Courtney Ann Combs
Hearing Instrument Specialist
I am the youngest daughter of Michael and Angela Combs. Born and raised in Harrisonburg, VA, my life has always been centered around helping others and I love every second of it! From waiting tables to dental assisting, my love of people motivated me to join the family business in February of 2018. Now instead of just filling bellies (which don’t get me wrong is super important), I get to improve their quality of life and nothing is more rewarding.
When I’m not working, I’m usually packing my suitcase for my next adventure. I like keep myself busy in mission work and exploring wherever my spare change can take me. One of my favorite places I’ve traveled so far is Patate, Ecuador where I got to enjoy beautiful mountains and the warm hospitality of the locals.
Education: Hearing Instrument Specialist Certified Dementia Practitioner Occupational Hearing Conservationist
Graduated from Turner Ashby High School with a Scholars Award in 2016. Graduated from Massanutten Technical Center with a certificate for Dental Assisting in 2016.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
As a kid, I wanted to be the world’s coolest soccer mom! I love soccer and family has always been a big part of my life, so being the cool mom that brought all the good snacks to the game and all the kids loved was always a dream of mine.
If you could have dinner with three people, who would they be?
If I could have dinner with any three people, I would pick Robin Williams, Jimmy Fallon, and my grandpa. I’m not sure which out of the three of them would be the funniest, but I doubt there would be much eating with all the laughing we would be doing.
What is your favorite movie of all time?
I’m a huge movie nut and practically keep them on loop in my house, so picking a favorite one is difficult. Some of my go to movies would be Napoleon Dynamite, Phantom of the Opera, 13 Going On 30, and basically any Disney/Pixar movie.
What is your favorite food to eat?
There’s no way I could ever pick a favorite food. Food isn’t just something I eat to survive, but it’s something I love and enjoy. The smells, the textures, the mouthwatering tastes- it’s all too wonderful for me to pick just one.
Where is your dream vacation destination?
If money were no object, it would be a toss up between Alaska or Fiji. I love the mountains and have only dreamed of seeing the northern lights, but the crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches call me as well.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
As much as I love going hiking and playing frisbee or soccer in the park, one of my favorite things to do is play board games and card games. My family takes our card games very seriously- we cut, shuffle, and deal in a particular order, but when it comes to board games, we love to play the silliest ones we can find.
What makes you laugh the most?
The one thing that makes me laugh the most is other people laughing. I don’t have to be in on the joke or have seen what just happened, but hearing other people laugh makes me lose it everytime.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
My karaoke go to song would have to be “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston. I can’t sing it nearly as good as she can, but it’s such a fun and powerful song that I can’t resist.
Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?
One thing I couldn’t live a day without is my family. As cliche as that sounds, it’s absolutely true. Between their crazy antics, their emoji ridden texts, and their random phone calls just to say hey, I don’t know what I would do without them.
What is your favorite thing about Hearing at Home?
I love that we’re able to help and make a difference in the lives of people who may not have previously been able to receive the help they needed due to their circumstances. Just being able to connect with new people on a personal basis and see their eyes light up when we bring them back into the hearing world is priceless.
